In feature level we noted that individual parts may will have there own individual modelling strategies. However the assembly level strategies material shows you how to establish links between parts to ensure that parts which fit together can be modified simultaneously with relative ease.
There are two fundamental assembly level modelling strategies to be aware of.
Bottom up is concerned with modelling a series of individual parts independently and sharing geometry so that modifications that have implications for other parts update those other parts simultaneously.
Top down starts with the overall form (i.e. what the product might look like in its assembled form) and from that generates a series of parts that add the relevant detail and functionality. Essentially this method involves creating a master model and from which a series of parts are generated from this. |
